|Rita & Keith Minard Garden:
Rita and Keith have created an unusual city garden in Des Moines, IA. Their garden features over 100 different clematis vines accented by
True Lilies and Daylilies in a series of garden rooms. Rita has filled the garden with plants and interesting garden art. Keith has created
metal sculptures to act as accents and support for the Clematis vines. This wonderful garden is an oasis in the heart of Iowa.
|Cheryl and Vern Ostrander Garden:
Cheryl and Vern have a lovely garden in Des Moines Iowa filled with a collection of hosta, clematis and other shade plants. Whimsical
metal sculptures and garden art peek out from under delicate Japanese maple trees. Follow the well-laid brick paths to the unusual gazebo
and discover wonders in this urban Iowa paradise.
|Kris & Tom Jurik Gardens:
Kris and Tom have a huge eight-acre hillside garden north of Ames, IA bordering a river. The Juriks have carved out a paradise of
woodland, prairie, sun and shade perennial beds. Kris drew up the plans while Tom removed trees, carved paths with limestone terrace
walls and steps. Kris planted hundreds of Iris, Peony, Daylilies, and Lilies over the past few years. Kris & Tom's garden was featured on
the 2017 American Iris National Convention Garden Tour and will be also featured on the 2019 Peony Society National Convention Tour.
|Nan and Merwyn Ripley will again host the NALS bus tour in their ten-acre “Walkabout Garden” near Nevada, IA. Nan’s garden features
hundreds of true Lilies both short and tall scattered in her many beds. The collection of unusual trees lends shade and miniature conifers
accent a berm. This garden is an American Hemerocallis Society National Display Garden with hundreds of registered daylilies plus
thousands of her fabulous daylily seedlings. Nan has 43 registered daylily hybrids with her “Scarlet Pimpernel” on fast track to the coveted
Stout Award. Nan Ripley’s garden was featured with an 8-page article May 2017 in Martha Stewart’s Living magazine. Walkabout this
garden to discover delightful garden accents and blooming beauty everywhere you look.
|Our 2018 NALS Lily Garden Bus Tour featured four exceedingly different and exciting
hilly, wooded areas plus stopped for Iowa comfort food along the way. It was a day of
sunshine, laughter and beautiful Lilies in their full garden glory!
